There are not many places left these days where anyone has the freedom to simply just pull off to the side of the road and set up a tent for the night... without getting hassled. I don't know if you had to pay and there was noboby to ask.

With the D'Entrecasteaux Channel connecting with the Derwent and Storm Bay in the the background, this boat doesn't look like going anywhere in a hurry.

Where Cockle Creek flows into Recherche Bay, the eastern end of Tasmania's famous South Coast Track is also the end of many long treks by walkers flown in by light plane to Melaleuca. Minimum walking time is six days, with seven to eight days the recommended allowance.

The following two shots were taken on our second trip to Recherche Bay. Adamsons Peak rises 1226 metres above sea level in the background with the 1012 metre pinnacle called the Mesa to the left.
