The drive up to Mt Wellington just on the break of dawn in mid summer is quite spectacular. But it can also be quite chilly outside as it was on this particular morning with a bit of a southwest breeze making its presence felt.

The sandy isthmus connecting North and South Bruny Island is clearly seen in this shot. Adventure Bay behind has provided safe anchorage for many mariners, including Cook.
