The
Australian Maritime College vessel, Wyuna, carried out radio
relay duties for the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race for quite
a number of years from the early 1980's up until 1992. During the
1984 race where a record 78% of the fleet retired due to stormy
conditions, Wyuna played a key role in the search and rescue
for a number of yachts that got into serious trouble.

Following
Wyuna as the radio relay vessel from 1993 until the 2000
race, Australia's national sail training ship the Young Endeavour.
In 1990, the ship participated as the starting boat for that year's
race.

Not
only high-tech, Eclipse also brings to the high seas the
highest standards of luxury. Looking across from the end of the
bed in the master suite.

For
sailors sitting out on the rail on their way to Hobart, some may at
least have two things on their mind -- a cold beer and a hot bath.
Images like that of the ensuite to the master suite on Eclipse,
may also drift by through the minds of some copping a cold salty shower
as they pound through each wave of that often bumpy Tasman swell.

And
after a hot bath and a cold beer comes a good night's sleep.
