Approaching the mark are Nerone, Barking Mad, Solution, Brighton Star, Venom, Phish Food and possibly, Intersell behind Phish Food.

Rounding the bottom right-hand mark are Nerone, followed by Barking Mad. Crown Prince Frederik's Nanoq has entered the bunch from the left-hand side of the course with its Polar Bear spinnaker. Nanoq had followed Barking Mad through the gate in 11th place. Solution, Brighton Star and Venom, are seen approaching the bottom gate from the right.

Nanoq and Barking Mad sail around the bottom right-hand mark. The distinctive spinnaker of Giovanni Maspero's Joe Fly makes an appearance behind the jib of Barking Mad.

After rounding the bottom right-hand gate mark and working to windward are Barking Mad and Nanoq. On their way down to the mark are Solution (left of Nanoq) Brighton Star, possibly Venom, Southern Star and Pegasus to the far right.

Swirling around the bottom right-hand mark are Barking Mad and Nanoq, while a mass of spinnakers of those listed earlier continue to plough through a rolling northeast swell down to the gate.

Brighton Star behind Nanoq and Barking Mad sailing to windward while Evolution, also sailing to windward in the background, has tacked back towards the centre of the course. Southern Star and Pegasus are seen approaching the mark and behind Pegasus is Alessandro Barnaba's Fiamma, with Intersell hidden behind Nanoq.
