Listening to ABC Local Radio on Sunday July 11, 2004, a story about the recommissioning of the Paddle Steamer Ruby was presented. The story revealed that the PS Ruby was dragged out of the river over twenty years ago and had spent much of that time sitting in a park.

Some time back in the 1980s I was riding a motor bike through the area on my way to Broken Hill and Tibooburra. Talk of this old paddle steamer sitting in a park at Wentworth sounded quite famillar and a quick search through the slide archive revealed the above shot. A couple of sites out on the web show how the Ruby looks today now afloat and are well worth a visit.
