After a week of high
temperatures in excess of 38 degrees C or 100 degrees F, a strong
southerly wind hit Sydney Harbour just prior to the scheduled start
time of the Commodore Cup 18ft Skiff race. Gusts in excess of 30
knots made conditions far too dangerous for the safety of the fleet
and the race officer was forced to abandon. |
