With only three
months to go for the 4th edition of the China Cup International
Regatta, event preparation is well underway in Shenzhen.
One feature of this year's regatta will be the introduction
of a new one design class, the Fareast 26 keelboat. |

The Fareast
26 (FE26) is the latest keelboat made by one of the largest
sailboat builders in China, Shanghai Far East FRP Co. Ltd.
Following on from its presence in the China City Clubs Open
Race held in back June in Qingdao, six FE26s will compete
in the 4th China Cup in October. |

Recognised as
a Grade 1 event by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF),
the China City Clubs Open Race in Qingdao attracted FE26
teams from as far as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong,
Yantai and locally from Qingdao. With eleven FE26s making
up the racing fleet in Qingdao, five sailors from European
dealers of Fareast yachts also took part in the event that
was won by the Shanghai team.
With a successful debut at the Düsseldorf Boat Show
in January, the FE26 marked the manufacturer’s expansion
into keelboat market, based on its years’ of experience
and expertise in dingy building. Designed by Simonis Voogd,
the FE26 is a modern design with beautiful short lines and
innovative features, suited both for racing as well as leisurely
cruising. It’s easy to handle for both experienced
sailors and novices.
During the open race in Qingdao, the FE26 could still achieve
good sailing performance, with light breeze of 4 to 6 knots
in 6 races. |
