Another night has passed, and it has gone at a good pace. Approaching the Doldrums, anything may happen. We'll see.

Do you remember the Attack of the Flying fish? Well, it seems we are enjoying so much that everyone who passes by wants to join us. As we were chatting quietly this very night it was an unfortunate squid which jumped on board, hit my right shoulder and fell at David's (Vera) feet! Unlucky squid. Not only because of its imminent death but the way it was to happen. In the middle of the ocean what is natural is to be eaten by bigger squids, dolphins, tuna... not by a human racing round the world! Yummy, this is a delicatessen, according to David, and the squid was gone. Proteins, you know.

The Volvo Ocean Race 2008-09 will be the 10th running of this ocean marathon. Starting from Alicante in Spain, on 4 October 2008 with in-port racing, it will, for the first time, take in Cochin, India, Singapore and Qingdao, China before finishing in St Petersburg, Russia for the first time in the history of the race.

Spanning some 37,000 nautical miles, stopping at 11 ports and taking nine months to complete, the Volvo Ocean Race is the world's premier yacht race for professional racing crews.
