Second
is an improvement from the previous year's third for AAPT, but even
2003's third was quiet an achievement with a damaged rudder from
hitting a Sunfish.

the 2004 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

The
60th Hobart dash had also served up what Langman simply called "a
reality check". When the boat was knocked down on the second
night, the tempo quickly changed from one of racing to one of survival.

Shifting
water ballast and hauling in the jib got the boat back up and vertical
after a long five minutes on its side. The reality from that point
was to nurse the boat and just get it safely down to Hobart.
And
its all over at Battery Point.

Langman
also reported hitting a log and was quite happy that after hearing
the bang, there was nothing wrong with the boat.

Langman
had also finished second over the line back in 2002. This and the following
results in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart reveal a high level of consistency
in providing some series competition for the super maxis Langman competes
with. There is also allot of determination there also as revealed at the
post finish press conference. This will no doubt be one boat to keep an
eye on for the 2005 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race... even if he resists
any temptation to extend it another 30 feet. |
