Pescud's Lyons 52, Kaz. Pescud had achieved a PHS divisional
win in the tragic 1998 Sydney to Hobart on another boat called
Aspect Computing. With a crew of 13 (6 with disabilities participating
in the Sailors with DisABILITIES program), they were the ninth
surviving boat to arrive in Hobart after that horrendous storm. Since
98, Pescud continues with the Sailors with DisABILITIES program,
has taken as noted by the CYCA as thousands of kids with disabilities
out sailing and has sailed in four more Hobarts' with this boat. Unfortunately,
Kaz was one of the early retirements in 2004 but I guess Kaz will
be back again next Boxing Day.

The
team from Melbourne University sailing Lou Abrahams' Sydney 38, Another
Challenge. With an average age of 21, Team Melbourne Uni
had spent a year training and raising funds to compete in both the
Rolex Trophy and the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. It was the
first time for all, so 25th over the line in a race with 54 retirements
out of 116 starters is a pretty good effort and one to be proud of.
Unfortunately for the owner Lou, his other Sydney 38, Challenge,
was one of the 54.

nasty southerly buster to Hobart. From left to right, the bow of Extasea;
More Witchcraft right at the back; behind AAPT is Ragamuffin;
the top of V60 Andrew Short Marine is just seen also behind
Ragamuffin and AAPT; Broomstick at the back;
Aera in front of Targé and Hardys Secret Mens Business;
and the V60, Indec Merit.
